So far we have refunded or credited just about 50% of all delegates. We have been focusing first on people who registered to attend the conference and will be moving next to exhibitors and sponsors. Given the current COVID-19 restrictions and the challenges of reaching people we are very proud to have gotten to this many folks. We are continuing to work on the refunding process, but ask your patience as we handle this complex and time-intensive process. We are currently on track to have everyone refunded or credited within 30 days of the conference cancellation. Thank you for your patience and your understanding and we look forward to seeing you at the 2021 Western Conference on Safety. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy.

Cancellation FAQ’s for the 2020 Western Conference on Safety
Has the conference been cancelled? Yes At 3:45pm, March 12, 2020, The British Columbia Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry and the BC Provincial Health Minister Adrian Dix, directed that all gatherings of more than 250 people be cancelled. The 2020 Western Conference on Safety is a gathering of over 1100 people. Accordingly, and as directed, the 2020 Western Conference on Safety (including its post conference courses) is now cancelled.
How are you informing people of this cancelation? By 4:30pm Thursday March 12/20 we had posted notices on the 2020 Western Conference on Safety website and the Pacific Safety Center’s website. By 7pm that same day we sent out an e-blaster to everyone on our contact lists, followed by another at mid-morning of March 13, 2020 also to everyone on our contact lists who has provided us with an email address (whether they are attending the conference or not) and to everyone associated with the conference who has provided us with their email address.
I booked a Group of People to Attend The Conference. Are You Letting Them All Know The Conference Is Cancelled or Do I Have To Do That? For group bookings we usually only have the group coordinator’s contact email address so it will be up to those people who registered their own groups to contact their own group members to notify them of the conference cancelation. For those people who are not part of a group and who we do not have email addresses we will do our best to contact them via direct emails, or telephone. We strongly urge you to follow the conference website to stay up to date. http://www.pacificsafetycenter.com/safety-conferences/
Will I get a refund of my registration fee/sponsor fee/tradeshow booth fee? Yes, a full refund will be issued to every person or organization who paid a registration fee to the Pacific Safety Center Ltd, to attend, purchase an exhibit booth or a sponsorship for the 2020 Western Conference on Safety or any of its post-conference courses.
Do I need to contact you to get my refund? No. We will be issuing refunds via cheque or credit card (depending on the client’s preference) to all who had paid fees to the Pacific Safety Center Ltd to attend. You do not need to contact us to request such a refund, in some cases we may have to reach out to some people to determine the most appropriate refund process for them, but for most people or organizations the refund will be processed and a cheque issued and mailed to the contact address we have on file, without any need for you to contact us.
When would I would I, or my organization, get our refund? We have already begin work issuing refunds, however with over 750 registrations, 80 tradeshow booths and numerous sponsors it will take some period of time to process everyone’s refund. This is a new and unexpected experience for us so we ask your patience and understanding as we work our way thru this new situation. While we currently have a process in place to handle the occasional refund, doing so for an entire conference will be a complex and time-intensive task. We will be working hard and hope to have all monies fully refunded within 30 days of the date of the cancellation of the conference.
If the conference is cancelled, will you reimburse me or my organization for my prepaid travel, flight or other expenses? Unfortunately no, as the conference does not and has not provided travel or other insurance for conference participants. Nor does the conference have the financial resources to reimburse any travel or other expenses incurred by individuals or organizations who had planned to attend the Western Conference on Safety.
I booked a hotel guest room for myself at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. Did you cancel it for me? No, if you or your organization booked your own guest room at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver it will be necessary for you to contact the Hyatt Regency and cancel your own guest room booking directly.

Currently there are lots of Full Conference seats (ie: you want to attend both Monday & Tuesday) and One Day Tuesday Only seats available BUT if you were planning to attend only Monday April 6/20 by buying a One Day Monday Only seat these are now Sold Out. There continues to be good availability for nearly all optional post conference courses.
Amazing that’s how its doing! The trend of lots of people registering early continues. Last year at this point we had 96 people registered (out of the total of 900 available seats) and this year there are already over 210 registered. An amazing growth of over 100%, due in part we think, to the conference selling out for the last 9 years in a row. In 2019 it did so over 3 weeks prior to the start date, surprising us but disappointing many would-be attendees. Will this trend continue? Only time will tell but if you want to ensure your seat, you may want to register sooner than later.
WOW, people are registering for the 2020 Western Conference on Safety faster than they ever have before. So far registrations are running more than 100% ahead of last year (when the conference sold out 3 weeks before its start date). It is early in the registration process and there are still lots and lots of seats available but if the current pace of registrations continues we expect the conference to be sold out by the early registration deadline of March 2. If you are planning on attending we suggest you don’t delay and register as soon as reasonably possible.
We are pleased to announce that WorkSafeBC has once agreed to be a Gold Level sponsor of the 2020 Western Conference on Safety. This will be their 25th year sponsoring the conference and their sponsorship has helped to make this conference the second largest of its type in Canada and the largest in Western Canada.
Our offices will be closed December 24 to January 3 for the holiday period. We look forward to working with you in 2020. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone and thank you for a great 2019.
